This innovative book structure is perfect for artists, makers, and anyone who loves working with paper. Students will create hardcover boards and an accordion-folded spine while learning essential bookbinding techniques, including gluing, folding, and simple construction.
Interior pages are cleverly folded and cut to slip through the accordion spine—no sewing or adhesive required. The removable pages make this structure especially versatile: take them out to paint, draw, collage, print, or experiment with mixed media, then simply slip them back into the book.
You’ll leave with a beautifully handcrafted book that can become an artist book, sketchbook, visual journal, or a unique way to showcase a collection of artwork.
This class is part of the For the Love of Bookmaking Series sponsored by the Rittvo Family Foundation.
