Does your child love to draw and want to take their skills further? This after-school program is designed for middle-school students who are ready to explore the technical side of art in a fun, creative setting.

Students will build a strong foundation in classic illustration while learning perspective, figure proportions, color theory, light and shadow, and more. Along the way, they’ll create a portfolio of finished work they can submit to art shows—and continue developing for future applications and opportunities.

Perfect for young artists who love drawing, enjoy a challenge, and want to grow their skills with confidence.

¿A su hijo/a le encanta dibujar y quiere llevar sus habilidades al siguiente nivel? Este programa extracurricular está diseñado para estudiantes de secundaria que están listos para explorar el lado técnico del arte en un ambiente divertido y creativo.

Los estudiantes desarrollarán una base sólida en ilustración clásica mientras aprenden sobre perspectiva, proporciones de la figura humana, teoría del color, luz y sombra, ¡y mucho más! Our Youth Art Academy classes are designed for older elementary and middle school students who want to take their art skills to the next level.

Students will explore the creative process of designing, carving, inking, and printing their own original artwork. Along the way, they’ll learn basic printmaking techniques, experiment with shapes, textures, and patterns, and discover how one design can become many unique prints. It’s a fun, hands-on class where kids can get creative, try something new, and make artwork all their own. All materials are provided, and each artist will leave with a collection of their very own prints to share and enjoy!

Free Art After School classes for elementary students provide a fun, welcoming space where kids can explore their creativity and imagination.

Through hands-on projects, students will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, and more while building foundational art skills along the way. Classes emphasize creativity, curiosity, and self-expression rather than perfection, helping young artists build confidence, take creative risks, and enjoy the process of making art.

In a supportive and encouraging environment, students will try new materials, make new friends, and experience the joy of creating something uniquely their own.

An Art Base staff member will meet enrolled students at the BES flagpole immediately after school and walk them to the Art Base. Parents and caregivers should pick up students at the Art Base at the end of class.

To help give as many children as possible the opportunity to participate in Free Art After School, please register your child for only one session of classes.

If your registration is successful, please only register for one month of Free Art After School per season.
