Opening Reception: February 12, 2016, 5:00 – 7:00pm
The Art Base will feature Basalt resident and artist Ada Christensen Feb. 12 through March 5. An opening reception will be held Friday, February 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. Colorscapes will present Ada’s landscapes on mahogany, inspired by the transitions from day to night (sunset and twilight), and night to day (early dawn). Developed from her painting technique of using layers of lacquer applied after washes of acrylic, she accentuates the natural features in the wood grain, evoking the feeling of a meditative landscape. Concurrent with the opening, in a new format for 2016,
Ada will discuss her work in an art talk with Executive Director Genna Moe on Friday, February 12 at 5:30p at the Charles J. Wyly Gallery at the Art Base.
