Unless otherwise noted, all classes and workshops are held at The Art Base, located at 174 Midland Avenue. Our classrooms are conveniently situated on the second floor, just above the Art Base Gallery. To access the classrooms, use the door immediately to the right of the gallery entrance.

Join us for a fun and creative morning workshop where you’ll design and craft your own custom mosaic serving tray. This hands-on workshop will guide you through the process of designing, cutting, and arranging colorful glass and ceramic tiles to create a beautiful, functional piece of art.

You’ll learn the basics of mosaic techniques, including tile selection, adhesive application, grouting, and finishing touches. All materials, tools, and trays will be provided – just bring your creativity!

By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a unique, handmade serving tray perfect for entertaining or gifting.

Explore the playful and intuitive world of layered printmaking in this all-levels workshop combining gelli printing and linocut techniques. The class begins with the creation of vibrant, textural background prints using a gelli plate, acrylic paints, and a variety of stencils and tools. From there, students will carve their own linoleum blocks and print bold black designs over the colorful gelli prints. Once dry, the layered pieces will be mounted onto blank cards, resulting in a unique, handmade set perfect for gifting or framing.

Ever wish you could paint a world full of happy little trees and happy little clouds? Now’s your chance to let your imagination run wild at this celebratory acrylic painting class, led by Bob Ross  himself (well, actually local artist Brian Colley in a brown curly wig and beard). Paint all your worries away, as together we create our own perfect mountain landscapes where no one makes mistakes, only happy accidents.

Learn the fundamentals of landscape oil painting, including design, color, and composition. While working from photographs in the classroom, practice bringing the outdoors in. Through demonstrations both inside and outside, Dan will teach the importance of simplifying and editing the natural world, resulting in a stronger and more dynamic piece of artwork—he will also teach how to create a solid plan so that more time is spent painting and less time fixing mistakes

GLASS WIND CHIMES

Create a one-of-a-kind wind chime in this colorful glass fusing workshop! You’ll design your own hanging piece using vibrant glass elements, learning the basics of glass cutting, layering, and composition. You’ll be using glass murrinis, stringers and frit to create the design. After the workshop, your pieces will be kiln-fired and returned to you ready for assembly. Once strung, your custom wind chime will bring color and a gentle melody to your garden, porch, or patio. No prior experience necessary—just bring your creativity!

MARKS IN MOTION

Discover the dynamic interplay between color and line while exploring acrylic abstract painting with graphite accents. Learn how to layer bold, expressive acrylics with the subtle, gestural quality of graphite to create abstract works that pulse with energy and texture. Experiment with mark-making, color theory, and composition, gaining confidence in your creative process. Whether you are new to painting or looking to expand your artistic vocabulary, this workshop encourages intuition, experimentation, and the development of your unique style.

SUPPLIES
Supplies for class projects are provided by the Art Base unless otherwise indicated in course description.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel a registration. If you need to cancel a workshop/class prior to 14 days, you will receive a refund, minus the $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations within 48 hours of class start are subject to cancellation fees up to the total cost of registration.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are available for all Art Base classes. Applications can be found on the Art Base website in both English and Spanish. Complete the online form or email the completed application and any questions regarding scholarships to programs@theartbase.org.

PHOTO AND DIGITAL LIKENESS USAGE CONSENT
During classes and events at the Art Base, yours or your child’s image and/or likeness may at any time be captured by still photography, videography, or other photographic or electronic means. Unless consent is waived on the class registration form or the Art Base is notified in writing that you do not want your or your child’s imaged to be used, the Art Base reserves the right to use any such image, photograph, video, or the like for archival, social media, marketing, or other Art Base related purposes.

PETS
Pets may not accompany instructors or participants to the classroom unless the pet is a Service Animal or a Support Animal with certified papers and working. The safety and wellbeing of our students is our priority. When you are teaching or taking  a TAB class, workshop, or camp, please leave your pets at home.
