The Art Base, a non-profit art center in Basalt, CO, fosters creative expression in the visual arts for all ages and abilities, through education, exhibitions, and providing opportunities to artists and artisans. The Art Base serves the Roaring Fork Valley, specifically the mid-valley and Basalt community, which includes several adjacent unincorporated areas in both Eagle and Pitkin counties, Garfield County, and the Roaring Fork School District. We take pride in providing educational opportunities and artmaking experiences, as well as in serving as a platform for artists to exhibit their work.


The Education Programs Manager position will implement all aspects of the Art Base’s adult education, youth education, and partner/outreach programs in keeping with the organization’s strategic objectives and mission. This position supports the Art Base’s ability to offer educational programs that are unique and enticing to artists and art enthusiasts. The successful candidate will share a passion for art education and outreach with underserved communities, and will possess a keen eye for detail, scheduling, and best pedagogical practices.




Education Programs Manager:

– Oversees all aspects of education programming in line with the mission and strategic goals.

–Provides art instructor training and supports instructor growth and professional development.

– Creates curriculum with instructors, based on individual skills and program needs.

– Manages administrative duties for instructor employment, onboarding (including background checks), tracking hours, instructor agreements, and payroll.

– Collaborates with Studio Manager to develop supply list for each class as cross-referenced with current inventory of supplies, instructor needs, including liaising with mentors, mentees, and parents/guardians.

– Designs and manages Summer Camp program.

– Orders and tracks shipment of supplies as noted above.

– Tracks program spending and budgets.

– Organizes partnership programs, including (but not limited to): Waldkinder, Basalt Regional Library, Roaring Fork School District, Town of Basalt, ACES, Roaring Fork Club, Aspen Art Museum, and others.

–Collaborates with local art teachers and organizes student field trips to the Art Base.

– Organizes the Claudette Carter Art Mentors (CCAM) program, including liaising with mentors, mentees, and parents/guardians.

– Launches and organizes the Laura Thorne Sculpture Mentors program, Fall 2024.


Promotion and Marketing:

– Writes content and coordinate with Communications Coordinator to promote all programs via e-blast newsletters, social media, and direct mail/posters.

– Coordinates with teachers to create language for workshop offerings.

– Coordinates with school administrators and non-profits to promote youth class offerings.

– Sends targeted emails to past students to promote opportunities.

– Manages communications with students and parents/guardians, including fielding questions and sending reminders before class.

– Tracks scholarship spending and issues scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need.

– Tracks statistics of program participants for grant reporting.


Classroom and Teaching Responsibilities:

– Manages program staff.

– Coordinates with Studio Manager regarding workshop staffing and classroom setup.

– Assists with studio cleaning, organizing, and upkeep.

– Hires, manages, and schedules summer interns and volunteers.

– Assists organization during workshops, gallery openings, Art Base Council and donor events, and artist talks.

– Teaches youth and adult classes as needed and substitutes in the event of a teacher’s absence.



– Speaks and writes Spanish fluently.

–Oversee the Art Base’s Digital Fabrication Lab by teaching classes within this space, including finding and selecting instructors and helping to set syllabi, capitalizing on new digital media lab classes.

– Catalogs and maintains in-house research library.

– Assists with organization during workshops, gallery openings, Art Base Council and donor events (including annual gala), and artist talks.




This position is a full-time position with some weekends and evenings required.

The annual salary range is $53,500 to $55,000 commensurate with experience, plus a $500 monthly wellness stipend and paid time off (PTO).
