COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Art Base is a non-profit art center in Basalt, CO. Its mission is to foster creative expression in the visual arts for all ages and abilities, through education, exhibitions, and providing opportunities to artists and artisans. The Art Base serves the Roaring Fork Valley, specifically the mid-valley and Basalt community, which includes several adjacent unincorporated areas in both Eagle and Pitkin counties, Garfield County, and the Roaring Fork School District. We take pride in providing educational opportunities and artmaking experiences, as well as in serving as a platform for artists to exhibit their work.

 

The Communications Coordinator position will implement all aspects of the Art Base’s communications and content in keeping with the organization’s strategic objectives, mission, and brand. This position supports the Art Base’s ability to communicate effectively and celebrate its story and impact with clients and constituents regarding all aspects of the organization (Education, Gallery, Shop, Events, etc.) This individual will work cross-departmentally and across platforms to gather and disseminate high quality content. Additionally, the Communications Coordinator will find new opportunities to grow the reach and reputation of the Art Base as a locally and regionally admired exhibition space and community art center. Successful candidates will be both results-driven and creative.

 

REQUIRED JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Provide design services related to the organization’s visual identity across print and digital platforms, from advertisements and printed materials to programmatic visual design and electronic communications, including the website.

 

  • Develop concepts and execute the design of print and digital collateral including, but not limited to, gallery materials, educational materials, fundraising materials, programmatic event materials, weekly newsletters, invitations, press releases, E-blasts, graphics, and exhibition sponsorship acknowledgements.

 

  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for receiving content from Art Base staff.

 

  • Create guidelines for how logos and other branding materials should be displayed and used.

 

  • Work with local news, radio and publications to present Art Base happenings and advertising content in a timely manner. Identify new opportunities for Advertising and Marketing.

 

  • Assist with photo documentation of opening receptions, artist talks, classes, workshops and events. Maintain photo archives.

 

  • Generate innovative content ideas for social media campaigns.

 

  • Craft and schedule social media posts, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand representation.

 

  • Assist in making design choices, using Art Base fonts and colors for Art Base content.

 

  • Liaison to external Graphic Designer.

 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

 

  • Minimum of two years of experience working in communications or significant internship credentials, or equivalent experience.

 

  • Strong writing skills suited to all forms of Art Base communications.

 

  • Experience working with social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

 

  • Demonstrated skill with Mail Chimp/Mail Merge, Canva, Word Press, Dream Host

Photo Shop, Adobe Suite, In Design, Facebook/Instagram (liaise with Social Media contractor).

 

  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.

 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate the design opportunities and challenges of a project.

 

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

 

  • Demonstrated collaboration skills.

 

  • Attention to detail with a keen eye for copy editing.

 

 

 

COMPENSATION:

 

This is a part time position at $25.00 an hour.
