SUMMARY:Art Lunch with Sabrina Piersol and Molly Altman
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 10\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM \nJoin us for Art Lunch with our exhibiting artist\, Savanna LaBauve\, as we dine and discuss art and anything else! This is a great chance to walk through their current exhibition\, Echoes\, and ask questions or connect. \nArt Lunch is our routine excuse to gather around the table. Bring a bagged lunch and let conversation roam. Some weeks we’ll toss in a discussion prompt to get things rolling\, but mostly it’s about food\, company\, and a potluck of ideas. \nExhibition Details\nOpening Reception: Friday\, June 12 from 5 PM- 7 PM\nArtist Talk: Friday\, June 12 at 5:30 PM\nOn view: June 12 to July 24\, 2026 \nThe Art Base is pleased to present Floral Panic\, an exhibition featuring the ceramics of Molly Altman and the paintings of Sabrina Piersol. The exhibition explores the artists’ engagement with natural motifs and abstraction. By loosening the constraints of representation\, Altman and Piersol envision new\, unrestrained ecosystems. Please join the Art Base at our opening reception Friday\, June 12th from 5 – 7 PM\, with an art talk at 5:30 PM. Admission is free and open to the public.  \nThe worlds within these abstractions emerge from different motivations. For Altman\, there is an echo of the impossible bouquets of Dutch still life painting: arrangements that could never exist in nature and reflect on impermanence. Both appear to overcome natural limitations\, creating an uncanny sense of abundance. Altman begins by collecting local flora such as thistle\, mullein\, and amaranth\, coating them in multiple thin layers of liquified porcelain. After a meticulous process\, the works are fired in a kiln\, which vitrifies the clay while burning away the organic plant material and preserving its hollow shell. These delicate\, semi-translucent objects are then assembled at impossible densities to create rich\, lush environments.  \nPiersol approaches painting as a sensory collage—a combination of poetry\, energy\, and exploration. Floral imagery acts as a point of familiarity within her abstractions; its specificity grounds connections between poppies from California\, irises from Colorado\, and the mountains of Death Valley\, bridging distant settings. The spaces within the paintings often hold moments of instability\, as though their physics have not fully settled. For Piersol\, this instability is formally similar to the Sapphic texts of Ancient Greece: classical poetry that exists only in fragments yet leaves room for projection in the gaps.   \nFrom these processes\, fragility emerges as a central condition of being. In Altman’s work\, the thin translucent ceramics preserve the delicacy of flora by translating it into a material that retains vulnerability\, its intricacy demanding care. In Piersol’s paintings\, the soft instability of space allows color\, luminosity\, and form to gently overtake fixed logic with delight.   \nFor both artists\, flora behaves like a melody: a rich interior language shaped through encounters with the natural world.   \n  \nGenerously sponsored by Krista Klees and Palladium Group\, and Z Group Architecture & Interior Design \n  \n \n  \n \n  \nThank you to our generous 2026 Annual Exhibition Sponsor\, Alpine Bank

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Hunter Hogan\, Sam Harvey\, and Sara Ransford
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: Friday\, August 28\, from 5 PM- 7 PM\nArtist Talk: Friday\, August 28 at 5:30 PM\nOn view: August 28 to September 25\, 2026 \n  \nTogether\, Sam\, Hunter\, and Sara have a more than twenty-five-year connection to the Roaring Fork Valley and Western Colorado. Being connected to the land has been paramount to our development as artists and human beings. Hunter Hogan’s works on canvas\, Sara Ransford’s paper clay wall pieces and constructions all connect on various levels\, their individual voices interpreting the landscape\, their view of the natural world\, and experiences connecting them as artists. \nThere is a deep affinity between Sara and Sam’s clay constructions and Hunter’s mixed media paintings. Their different styles of work create a natural interchange of mountains\, deserts\, botanics\, and floral patterns that all relate to our western Colorado environment. \n  \nThis exhibition is generously sponsored by CCY Architects and Kathy Honea \n  \n \n  \nThank you to our generous 2026 Annual Exhibition Sponsor\, Alpine Bank

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: David Clark "Mt Sopris in Black and White"
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: Friday\, October 2 from 5 PM- 7 PM\nArtist Talk: Friday\, October 2 at 5:30 PM\nOn view: October 2 to October 30\, 2026 \n  \nThis exhibition features a curated selection of 12-14 of the artist’s most compelling black-and-white photographs of Mount Sopris\, captured over the past 15 years. Each image is presented as a metal print ranging from 20×30 to 30×45 inches\, including both horizontal and vertical compositions\, with several works offered as multi-panel installations. The display will also highlight a series of distinctive ‘Raised Texture Ink’ metal prints\, which introduce a subtle three-dimensional quality to otherwise traditional photographic surfaces. SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Michael Kinsley "Sensuous Landscapes"
DESCRIPTION:On view: October 2 to October 30\, 2026\nOpening Reception: Friday\, October 2\, from 5 PM- 7 PM\nArtist Talk: Friday\, October 2 at 5:30 PM \n  \nRooted in traditional representational painting\, Kinsley’s style has evolved to amplify Nature’s sensual forms\, some obvious\, others obscure. One curator calls his work “voluptuous.” \nIn oil\, he paints his smaller pieces plein air. Larger pieces begin as field sketches that establish composition\, which he amplifies in the studio as sinuous natural shapes. These two-steps allow him to see on-site the convergence of subtle shapes that photos often miss\, then interpret and refine the shapes more deliberatively in the studio. \nHis primary subjects are Western Colorado and the Utah desert\, mostly from the Roaring Fork Valley. Influences include Canadian modernists Emily Carr and Franklin Carmichael. Also\, Edgar Payne\, Maynard Dixon\, and Cezanne\, plus friends Dan Young (Silt)\, Tania Dibbs (Basalt)\, and the Hermitage Group (St Petersburg\, Russia) \nCurrently\, his paintings are on display at Aspen’s Wind River Gallery. Since the 90s\, they have appeared in 14 galleries and in over 20 local community exhibits\, including juried shows. Institutional collections include Parc Aspen Restaurant\, Colorado River Conservation District\, Valley View Hospital\, and Rocky Mountain Institute. \n  \nThank you to our generous 2026 Annual Exhibition Sponsor\, Alpine Bank \n \n

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Lindsey Yeager
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: Friday\, December 11 from 5 PM- 7 PM\nArtist Talk: Friday\, December 11 at 5:30 PM\nOn view: December 11\, 2026 to January 2\, 2027 \n  \nLindsey Yeager creates large-scale gouache paintings that explore disconnection\, grief\, transformation\, and the emotional weight of living in a rapidly changing world. Their work merges personal narrative with broader cultural anxieties–examining loss\, fear\, and the longing to be understood. Through vivid imagery and metaphor\, the paintings probe the messy\, creature-like experience of navigating a world that often feels uninhabitable. \n  \nThank you to our generous 2026 Annual Exhibition Sponsor\, Alpine Bank
